바흐는 아들의 연주와 작곡 교육을 위해서 2성 Invention 15곡과 3성 Synfonia 15곡을 작곡했는데 이것을 우리는 흔히 인벤션이라고 부른다.

바흐의 인벤션은 몇 개의 음으로 구성된 동기가 세포처럼 분열되고 여러 양태로 변형 성장하여 마침내 전체와 부분이 완전히 균형 잡힌 악곡으로 완성된다.

3성 Invention No. 15는 두 개의 version으로 편곡되었는데 3성의 대위법적인 동기 모방이 가야고 4중주에서는 4성으로 확대된다. 또 후반 version에서 강력한 hemiola 리듬이 바흐의 건반 음악에 새로운 느낌을 유발하도록 <가야금 앙상블 사계>가 역동적으로 연주한다.

3성 Invention No.15는 보통 9/8박자로 작곡되었어야 할 것이지만 9/16박자로 작곡되었다. 이것은 보다 분할된 음표의 작품일수록 활기가 넘치며 나아가 인간적인 춤 관련으로도 볼 수 있다. <가야금 앙상블 사계>는 3성 Invention No. 15가 바흐 인벤션의 마지막 곡으로서의 활성이 잘 드러나도록 연주하고 있다(이해식. [SAGYE] CD, track 8).

For three 25 string kayagums(伽倻琴) and 22 string bass kayagum

Bach composed 15 two-part inventions and 15 three part sinfonias for his son's compositional education, what we now commonly both call “inventions.” His inventions are composed of motives that consist of a number of notes that are divided like cells with several forms changing and developing, finally completing the piece in total balance between the parts and the whole. There are two versions of the three-part Invention No. 15, the three-voice contrapuntal motive imitation is expanded into four voices for the kayagum quartet. Also, in the second version the kayagum quartet Sagye(四界) performs with animation the strong hemiola rhythm, giving a new feeling to Bach's keyboard works. This piece was intended to have been written in 9/8, but was converted into 9/16. The more the notes were divided in the piece, the more vigor it carried, and taken a step further can be seen to have the human touch of a dance. Sagye performs this last invention of Bach, having the activity of the piece well expressed(Lee Haesik, [SAGYE] CD, track 8.
